First week with a new companion! Her name is Hermana
Martinez, she is from El Salvador and has been serving for 15 months! (she is
leaving soon) hahaha.
This week literally everyone and their dog went to
the beach because everyone had work and school off because of Semana Santa
(Easter Week). Even though there was no one home, we found a lot of people.
Even the popsicle lady was gone! I don’t know why she thought it was okay to
leave, but I was dying without her! Hahahaha.
So this week the owner of the house where we live is
super nice so we are going to move. The zone is completely new, but we are
still going.
A few days ago, I read the talk by President Russell
M. Nelson from conference and I wanted to share what I learned from him. Jesus
gave his life for us so we could have access to godly power. This godly power
is to help us in obstacles, burdens, temptations, and trials in our life.
President Nelson taught us how we can have that power in our lives:
1. Learning
about the Savior.
When we learn about Him is how our
faith grows. The more we understand Him and His doctrine, the more we
understand how it can help us. President Nelson helps us understand that all is
part of Heavenly Father’s plan, but the Savior’s purpose was to fulfill His
plan. The Savior is the one who suffered, who paid the price, who delivers us
from our physical and spiritual death. Jesus Christ is the source. We need to
take time to learn about the Savior and His sacrifice so we can know the power
it has.
2. Choose
to have faith in Him and follow Him.
President Nelson said “true
disciples of Jesus Christ are willing to stand out, speak up and be different
from the people of the world.” We need to make the decision to have faith and
choose to follow Him. We need to choose our happiness. (Love how he said
choose.) No one is going to force us, we need to want it and seek after it and
stand up for it. “Our faith in Christ propels us to do things we otherwise
wouldn’t do. Faith that motivates us to action gives us access to His power.”
Our dedication and faith in Him makes us better people, which helps us become
worthy of that godly power.
3. Make
sacred covenants and keep those covenants with precision.
As we remember and keep our
covenants, it helps us seek ways to stay away from the world and have nothing
in the way to have access to his power. Keeping the covenants we make helps us
greatly in feeling the Savior’s power in our life.
4. Reach
up to him in faith.
The desires of our hearts are what
God sees. Our actions and efforts to seek Him and have Him in our lives also show
how much we want him to help us. Reaching in faith requires diligent focused
effort. Here we are constantly talking about working diligently. It is the same
in life. We need to be reaching for Him diligently. “When you reach up for the
Lord’s power in your life with the same intensity that a drowning person has
when grasping and gasping for air, power from Jesus Christ will be yours. When
the Savior knows you truly want to reach up to Him—when He can feel the
greatest desire of your heart is to draw His power into your life—you will be
led by the Holy Ghost to know exactly what you should do.” We need to want it
and the Savior’s power will be in our lives. How bad you want it is how hard
you’ll work for it. It requires a great desire and God will always, always be
there to help us. The Savior’s power is available for anyone who wants it.
Everyone needs it in their life. I know I do.
I love Him and am grateful for everything He’s done
for me. Also grateful for all the love, support and prayers!

Primera semana con una nueva compañera! Su nombre es Hermana Martínez, ella
es de El Salvador y tiene 15 meses en la misión (YA SE VA) jajaja.
Esta semana literalmente todos y sus perros se fueron a la playa porque no
tenían trabajo ni escuela por Semana Santa. Esta semana pudimos encontrar
muchas personas aunque nadie estaba en casa. ¡Hasta la señora de las paletas
(helados) se fue! ¡No sé por qué pensó que estaba bien irse porque me estaba
muriendo sin ella!
Entonces, ¡esta semana la dueña de la casa es súper buena entonces nos
vamos a mudar pronto! Jajaja ¡La zona es completamente nueva pero ahí vamos!
Entonces uno de estos días leí el discurso del Presidente Russell M. Nelson
de la conferencia y quería compartir lo que aprendí de él. Jesús dio su vida
por nosotros para que pudiésemos tener acceso al poder divino. Este poder
divino es para ayudarnos con obstáculos, cargas, tentaciones y pruebas en
nuestra vida. El Presidente Nelson nos enseñó cómo podemos tener este poder en
nuestras vidas:
1. Aprender acerca del Salvador.
Cuando aprendemos acerca de Él es cómo nuestra fe crece.
Cuanto más lo entendemos a Él y Su doctrina, comprenderemos mejor cómo nos
puede ayudar. El Presidente Nelson nos ayuda a comprender que todo es parte del
plan de nuestro Padre Celestial, pero el propósito del Salvador era cumplir ese
plan. El Salvador es el que sufrió, el que pagó el precio, el que nos salvó de
la muerte física y espiritual. Jesucristo es la fuente. Necesitamos dedicar
tiempo para aprender acerca del Salvador y Su sacrificio para que podamos saber
el poder que tiene.
2. Debemos elegir tener fe en El y seguirlo.
El Presidente Nelson dijo “los discípulos verdaderos de
Jesucristo están dispuestos a destacarse, defender sus principios y ser
diferentes a la gente del mundo”. Necesitamos tomar la decisión de tener fe y
seguirlo. Necesitamos elegir nuestra felicidad (me encanta como dijo elegir).
Nadie nos va a forzar, necesitamos quererla y buscarla y defenderla. “La fe en
Jesucristo nos impulsa a hacer cosas que de otro modo no haríamos. La fe que
nos motiva a actuar nos da más acceso a Su poder”. Nuestra dedicación y fe en
El nos hace mejores personas, lo cual nos ayuda a ser dignos de ese poder
divino.
3. Hacer convenios sagrados y guardamos dichos convenios con
precisión.
A medida que recordamos y guardamos nuestros convenios,
nos ayuda a encontrar maneras de alejarnos del mundo y evitar todo los que nos
impida acceso a Su poder. El guardar los convenios que hacemos nos ayuda mucho
en sentir el poder del Salvador en nuestras vidas.
4. Acudir a Él con fe.
Dios ve los deseos de nuestro corazón. Nuestras acciones
y esfuerzos en buscarlo a Él y tenerlo en nuestras vidas también demuestran
cuánto queremos que Él nos ayude. El acudir a Él con fe requiere diligente
esfuerzo enfocado. Acá siempre estamos hablando de trabajar diligentemente. Es
igual en la vida. Necesitamos acudir a El diligentemente. “Cuando procuren el
poder del Señor en su vida con la misma intensidad que tiene uno cuando se está
ahogando y lucha por respirar, el poder proveniente de Jesucristo será de
ustedes. Cuando el Salvador sepa que ustedes realmente desean acudir a El—cuando
Él pueda sentir que el mayor deseo de sus corazones es obtener el poder de El
en sus vidas--, serán guiados por el Espíritu Santo para saber exactamente lo
que deben hacer”. Necesitamos desearlo y el poder del Salvador estará en
nuestras vidas. Qué tanto lo quieras es qué tanto trabajarás para obtenerlo.
Requiere un gran deseo y Dios siempre, siempre estará allí para ayudarnos. El
poder del Salvador está disponible para todos los que lo desean. Todos lo
necesitan en sus vidas. Yo sé que yo lo necesito.
Lo amo a Él y estoy agradecida por todo lo que Él ha hecho por mí. ¡También
estoy agradecida por todo su amor, apoyo y oraciones!
