100 Days

EYYOO not much time today, but this week was crazy!

Satan was working super hard this week. Literally everything was getting in the way of Yolis y Nelson’s wedding, and Yolis’ baptism, but we weren’t gonna let him win. SO after a lot of stuff we were able to see the best wedding. Seriously that was the best wedding I’ve ever been to. No offense to anyone.

The baptism was so amazing even though the freaking font wouldn’t fill and it was a struggle to get her completely covered in water. But it was the best.

Pacheco left me and now I have a new comp, Hermana Martinez! She’s really sweet, from El Salvador and I’m excited to work hard with her this change.

Wish I could tell all of you all the details, but I don’t have time today.

I just really appreciate all the prayers, love and support!

Keep sharing the gospel and the light! Love you all!

General Conference

ARE YOU KIDDING?!?! General Conference is just what I needed, well what everyone needs in their life really. But I just really appreciate the fact that we get to have and listen to General Conference every 6 months. I got to listen to it in English because it was weird to me not to hear their voices, but we were watching it and listening to the hymn and the signal cut and we missed ALL of president Monson's talk and where he announced the temples and everything. The signal came back after that so that hurt my heart a little but life goes on. But conference was just so good, so many answers to so many prayers. Highly recommended to watch no matter what religion.

So I always thought it was hot here, but this week I experienced a different kind of hot that I thought i was literally dying. I was in shock on how hot it was. You guys don't understand. And they say Semana Santa which is next week its the hottest of the year. So RIP to me.

But I'm having so much fun! This week we're preparing for Yolis' baptism. Changes are next week so next Monday I will have new comp.

I don't have much time today and I wish I could tell you about every single conference talk, but the best way is just listen/read them!!

I love this gospel! Everyone is welcome to come unto Christ. Through Him is how we find true happiness. Because of Him is why we can return to live with our Heavenly Father and live with our family forever.

Hope you have an amazing week! I love being here so much and I wouldn't trade dying in the heat for anything.

Ustedes no comprenden. Asique me voy a morir.

3 Months

Good morning,

This week went by so fast that really I don’t remember what happened. But this week I took a lot of photos. Well, Hna Pacheco took a lot of photos. I don’t know what I am going to do when my personal photographer is not here…

This week we found more people to teach and more people to talk with.

Yesterday (Sunday) my companion got up and started making a lot of noise and cleaning the house, and I was thinking what is this crazy doing? We have to go get the investigators… then she comes and tells me “oh and I was so happy because I thought it was Monday.” Hahahaha I was laughing so hard.

Last Tuesday we had a district meeting and had pizza afterwards. Then we went to a lunch appointment, and then to visit a sister who fed us a huge plate of food. A bit later we went to visit another sister and she gave us food, then we went to our dinner appointment and they gave us a ton of food! I couldn’t eat any more, that is why the face on the photo with the plate of food! I gained a ton of weight that day.

We then taught a 9 year old girl the plan of salvation and we asked her where we were before being born and she said Costa Rica! Hahahaha.

Alright, the same heat as always, but happier than ever… I am getting used to the food and every day I eat mangos. I love this place.

I hope you have a good week full of happiness! I love you!

Another Week of Miracles

TIME IS GOING BY SO FAST! This week will be two months since I got to Nicaragua.

Well, this week was a really good week. Tuesday we had a multi-zone which was an all-day thing but it was really great. There, we heard from the new missionaries, an Elder that is leaving this change, and President and Hermana Poncio. Then on Wednesday we had a meeting for new missionaries in Managua which was also all day and also got to hear from President and Hermana Poncio. And then on Thursday we had a district meeting where Hermana Pacheco and I had to give the message.

This week all the messages, or most of them, had the same theme. The theme this week was Faith and Hope. As missionaries and people we need to have hope and faith in Christ. Faith that things are going to happen. Faith that the hard times will pass and faith that everything will be okay. Along with that goes patience and trust in Him. Our Heavenly Father never will let us down and always knows what we need at that moment and what we need in future moments. But if we don’t have faith in Him then none of those things will happen. Miracles come to pass depending on our faith. That was the theme this week.

And with that motivation, when we finally were able to work we were able to find new families to teach and lots of positive people that want to hear the gospel. I’ve seen the blessings one gets when they decide to have a better relationship with our Heavenly Father. When one makes the effort to have that relationship and strengthen it, it changes one’s life and makes our crazy life just a little bit easier. We’re on His team and He is in ours.

Also, one night I was walking in the dark to go turn on the lights to the house and when I was walking back I saw the biggest tarantula. It was literally bigger than my hand!!! I walked past it basically touching it without even realizing it. wowo I tried killing it but it ran and to this day I have no idea where it is. Hopefully it’s dead.

On Thursday at the zone meeting, I saw that the mango tree at church had a ripe mango that I wanted. So I asked the elders to help me get it. Five elders for like 20 minutes could not get my mango. The ripe mango on the tree. They got other mangos, but that mango is still hanging there right now (photo about this below). Which is another good news that all the mangos are getting ripe so WHOOHOO mangos for days.

Well, I hope you all have an amazing week and I love and appreciate all the love and prayers.

Tenha uma boa semana! (My Portuguese is coming along)

A Week of Miracles

Last week was a good one. We moved and met the new missionaries in our area. We have 3 brand new missionaries in our area (just got to mission field).

Last week we did service, and found families and people to teach. I got water out of a well for the first time ever. I know that doing service helped us a lot this last week!

This week I am going to Managua again, but I will be able to see Elder Johnson with who I was in same district at MTC!

Many things happened this week, but I can’t remember them right now so I will have to write it down so I can remember next time.

Anyway, Hermana Pacheco and I are working really hard to reach our goals this month.

My hand is good. In our new house there are no rats, woohoo!

Okay, thank you very much for all your prayers and love! I love you!

Hermana Cortez.
